About Hong Kong No. 1

Hong Kong No. 1 is a chinese restaurant in Cary, North Carolina. It is listed at 2720 NC-55, Cary, NC 27519, which places it among the local businesses of Cary that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 am–9 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Hong Kong No. 1 at (919) 363-2828; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, hongkongno1nc.com.

Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 182 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Cary is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Cary follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

⚠️ Caution ⚠️ Got a bad case of food poisoning from one of their dishes. Black Pepper Chicken. I don't know if the chicken may have been contaminated, or if their veggies they used were expired. The dishes gave me and brother-in-law a bad cause of food poisoning. As of writing this review, it has been 5 days and my stomach is still gurling itself over repairing itself. How do I know it was this specific dish? 3 other people in my house hold ate the other dishes we got order and they were fine. Only me and my brother-in-law ate the black pepper chicken. He ate it first and wasn't feeling too well. I ate it a few hours later thinking it must be his tastebuds not liking the amount of black pepper used.

How do you judge a a strip mall Chinese takeout place? -- the answer is, by its soups. I tried the egg drop soup and hot and sour soup, both were made fresh and both were very very good! Egg drop soup with simple, tasty stock with fragrance of sesame oil. Hot and sour soup. Full of mushroom , wood-ear mushroom , carrots and tofu and with perfect amount of spice and sweetness. Some other Chinese takeout may have them couple dollars cheaper but these are top notch.

Lady had an attitude when I walked in to pick up my order. Chicken slimy and possibly undercooked. WONT be ordering from here again.

Yeah the food here is good. I just took my second bite and stopped what I was doing to post this.

I ordered the sweet and sour pork, which was unfortunately quite poor in quality due to its excessive fat content. I opted for the sesame chicken with white meat, which was quite satisfactory. The egg rolls and rice were also enjoyable. It is advisable to carefully examine the pricing, as I was almost charged $7 for a soda and one white sauce.
